The CEO of Social Radius, Michael Terpin recently delivered a fascinating presentation of case studies outlining how to market and sell using Social Media. A speaker at the 2010 Electronic HomeShopping Conference he has kindly agreed to share his presentation with us.
We’re really excited about the challenges and opportunities that moving to a new location will bring, and Conference Director Nancy Barkan has created a new industry-led Conference Committee, working closely with our members in the creation of conference content and communications, using local knowledge and close ERA membership input. We have a host of exciting initiatives which we will share in the near future.
In the meantime, the most important message is – SAVE THE DATE!
As we blow the dust off a fantastic final Monte Carlo Electronic HomeShopping Conference, preparations are already very much underway for next year’s conference in Stockholm, Sweden.
Before we begin to promote the next conference it would be great to look back and reflect on the past one, where many new business relationships were born, old ones cemented and renewed, and which was widely agreed to be the best conference since 1997. Certainly the attendance, the bustling exhibition floor, and the incredible popularity and success of the Business Club led to a feeling that we were leaving Monte Carlo on a high.
Below you can read our Conference write-up from Electronic Retailer magazine, and beneath that we have a slideshow of photos for you.
Keynote Speaker at the 2010 Electronic HomeShopping Conference Fredrik Haren gives his lowdown on the Idea Book minutes after addressing the ERA European Conference, taking place in Monte Carlo for the last time before moving to Stockholm for the 2011 event.
Haren’s speech was a huge success for those who attended and a real ‘miss’ for those who didn’ t make it, offering a mix of the profound and the humourous, with the intention exploring and examining how we can all be more creative in our everyday businesses. He also drew heavily from his forthcoming book.

Re: The Audiovisual Media Services Directive Implementation
The Audiovisual Media Services Directive – replacing the 1987 Television Without Frontiers Directive – was approved by the European Parliament at the end of 2007 and is due to be implemented by member states within the next 2-3 years.
Different interpretations of the Directive by European Union member states, regarding the ways in which the Directive is implemented locally, could be acceptable or detrimental to the DRTV and Television Shopping Industry. It is important for ERA EUROPE members to monitor and where possible participate in the consultations leading to local implementation, and to both inform and involve ERA EUROPE as and when appropriate.
We ask ERA Europe members therefore to kindly this AVMS Survey on-line, save the pdf document, and send it back to Marcel Avargues before June 11. The Government Affairs committee will then publish the results of the implementation situation, country by country, before we discuss it at the 2010 European Forum during the Electronic HomeShopping Conference and Trade Expo, June 27-29, in Monte Carlo.
We would like to thank you in advance for taking part in this survey and for helping us to compile a Europe-wide appreciation of the current situation.
Very best regards
The ERA EUROPE Government Affairs Committee Chairs

– With only a month to go until ERA Europe’s Annual Conference, Executive Director Marcel Avargues invites you to sample the full delights of this most International of conferences.
In less than a month we will welcome you again to Monte Carlo, to enjoy the unique setting and atmosphere of the Riviera in June, before a new era for the ERA EUROPEAN Conference begins next year in 2011 in beautiful Stockholm.
To celebrate this “farewell to Monaco”, we have made special efforts to make it even more memorable: more networking opportunities; a quiet, protected and efficient business environment; many new first-time guests; plus vendors and industry representatives from attractive emerging markets across the world. I hope our first-time attendees, and the enthusiastic group of new ERA EUROPE members will feel at home amongst the many delegates who discovered and enjoyed the previous Electronic HomeShopping Conference & Expos in 2007-09.
We have continued to monitor the most advanced players in the RETAILING 2.0 sphere, ERA members and external pioneers in the new audiovisual retailing technologies. The Electronic HomeShopping Conference and Expo is the showcase of these new approaches and marketing technologies that will become part of your everyday business sooner or later.
We have organized for you a total of 2880 minutes of Business Networking time for your deal making and “star product” hunting over the 3 days of the Conference and our Business Club and Exhibit Hall will be the usual marketplace you can’t miss (or find anywhere else)…
But I urge you too, to mark in your calendars a small fraction of time out of your busy schedules, to attend the very selective 270 minutes of Business Development content of the 2010 programme – on Monday and Tuesday morning.
Please take advantage of the highly relevant and brand new concepts and case studies our distinguished group of speakerswill share with you…
Once again, I look forward to sharing successful business and good fun together with you this year, thanks to our many exhibitors, sponsors and delegates…..

This a short 2 minute video excerpt from a recent interview with ERA Europe Chairman, Alexander Chacon, for the April edition of Electronic Retailer magazine. In it he talks about why the Electronic HomeShopping Conference should figure heavily in international electronic retailers’ schedules this summer, and about ERA Europe’s unique capability to serve as a ‘concierge’ for businesses interested in working with European companies.
