ERA EUROPE SELF REGULATION
All ERA Europe members are responsible for promoting a positive image of the Direct Response industry and creating a level playing field across Europe. As such, all members must subscribe to a set of Marketing and Consumer Relations Standards, known as The Self Regulation Programme. Since its inception in 2005 it has grown in stature and activity, leading to increased consumer confidence in electronic retailing and distance selling.
The Self Regulation Programme’s objective is to give ERA Europe members the visibility and credibility they deserve as:
- Trusted consumer partners. Enabling consumers to shop with confidence through TV, internet and other e-media.
- Legitimate product retailers. Helping manufacturers, small and large to reach confident consumers.
The Self Regulation package sent to all new (and re-joining) ERA Europe members contains:
– the Executive Summary
- the Programme Procedures
- the ERA Europe Self Regulation Guidelines
- the Member’s Declaration of Compliance questionnaire
- and a cover letter from the Self Regulation Officer
- the Self-Reg Claims Checklist ERA SelfReg Checklist
Self-Regulation Guidelines, Administration Provisions and documentation were developed by a team comprising the Self-Regulation Committee of the Board, the Executive Director, and a contracted independent Self Regulation Officer. Declarations of Compliance Questionnaires are now received by ERA Europe’s Independent Self Regulation Officer, Nancy Barkan, for new members as part of their membership enrolment procedure, and from existing members when they renew their membership.
